*Passport and/or other forms of Identification
*Health certificates
*Blood Tests
*Authorization letters
*Proof of church membership
*Administrative and license fees
*Copy of Tourist cards or visa
*Witnesses to some forms
*Certificate of Consular Inscription (a letter obtained at the embassy or consulate indicating personal data)

INFO FOR THESE POPULAR DESTINATIONS:
TAHITI
HAWAII
JAMAICA
FIJI
BERMUDA
LAS VEGAS

Some destinations require that a civil ceremony first be performed at a specific location, such as a city hall. Tahiti has very specific requirements that may make marriage impractical for visiting foreigners. It is HIGHLY recommended that Tahiti be an option for the non-legal ceremony (vow-renewals) see box below just why.

CIVILIAN Marriages

Tahiti gets the green light for foreign marriages

Long recognized as one of the most romantic honeymoon destinations in the world, overseas visitors will also now be able to get married in French Polynesia after the French government gave the green light for foreign marriages to be conducted in Tahiti and her islands.

The minimum 30-day residence criteria has been done away with under the new legislation meaning visitors will be able to get married in a romantic Tahitian ceremony as long as they also go through a civil ceremony which must be conducted at a local city hall. Previously visitors could only undergo a symbolic French Polynesian marriage or a renewal of wedding vows legally exchanged elsewhere.

Tourism operators are now putting in place plans and packages to capitalize on the legislative change and Tahiti Tourisme Regional Director, Robert Thompson, believes it will provide a real boost to local tourism as well as offering visitors a wonderful new location in which to get married. “French Polynesia abounds with fantastic honeymoon options and the traditional wedding ceremony, with its music, singing, dancing and stunning location has always proved extremely popular. Now couples can enjoy all these things and be married legally – a fantastic ‘one stop shop’ for a dream wedding.”

Traditional Marriage Ceremony
In addition to a civil marriage, the couple may organise a traditional wedding ceremony, without legal implications, to complete a civil marriage or to renew their vows. Most of the hotels, as well as the Tiki Village on Moorea, offer this type of service. In hotels, honeymooners are welcomed with "honeymoon gifts". Numerous services for honeymooners are also available (romantic dinner, floral bouquets, private excursions).

Avoiding destinations that present significant challenges is best. For the most part, destination marriages are quite easy in the many popular locations.

HAWAII
This is one of the most popular destinations for the U.S. citizen as it is a domestic destination. Because of the fact that there has been unrest in many international destinations, Hawaii has become a leading wedding and honeymoon destination. Keep in mind however that Hawaii can be rather expensive. Fortunately there are many condominium complexes. Hawaii does not have an all-inclusive market and the condominium provides comfortable and cost-efficient, affordable family accommodations.

Kauai and Maui are the most popular of the Hawaiian Islands for the purpose of weddings.
